About the Department

Our department provides a full complement of history and geography courses for NKU students who are working toward a degree, seeking a minor or satisfying general education requirements.

Students can study the history of the United States and other parts of the world to attain a bachelor degree or acquire teaching certification. We also offer a Master of Arts in Public History that prepares graduate students for work at museums, archives and historical sites.

Geography courses leading to a bachelor degree cover a wide range of topics. Some delve into problems facing our planet, such as global warming, pollution and natural resource management. We also have a series of mapping courses and a Geographic Information System Lab.

Most of our department's faculty members have attained a Ph.D. and some are published authors. They share their expertise in classroom settings that promote student participation.

Several courses on the 100 level and higher are now offered online to make them more convenient for busy students.
